Level 1 is the easiest level. The phone doesn't look at very many moves before it decides which move to make, but it will not give its pieces away lightly so be careful. On this level the phone moves very quickly. Increasing levels get harder as the phone considers its options more carefully before deciding which move to make, so it takes progressively longer for it to move. Typically on a 7650 or 3650 the phone will respond in less than 1 second for level 1, less than 5 seconds for level 2, less than 30 seconds for level 3 and less than 2 minutes for level 4. The 7210 is roughly 5 times slower than this. There is, however, no maximum thinking time so in certain situations the phone may take a little longer. Some computer chess games will have a maximum thinking time but very often they will make a bad move just when the game is becoming interesting and challenging. This is very annoying so Dr. Walker's™ Chess does not do this.

To download the game, simply tell your WAP browser to download the URL. The server will detect your phone type and model, and it will give you either an appropriate version of the game, or it will send you a 404 error (which means that there is no version available yet for yout phone.)

3G-Scene's Einstein Challenger™ Chess is an online chess game that allows you to play your friends and other players globally, alternatively you can play against the phone with the games built-in artificial intelligence.  Unlike most other chess games, Einstein challenger™ Chess' internal artificial intelligence does not "hand -limit" its own performance when pressed for time by a hard hitting opponent.

GPRS connectivity means that you can play anyone in the world, without incurring large line costs. Typically a game takes less than 10kBytes to play, which is a lot less than sending a photograph over GPRS.

Level 1 is the easiest level. The phone doesn't look at very many pieces before it decides what move to make, but it will not give its pieces away lightly so be careful. On this level the phone moves very quickly. Every chess rule is obeyed, including en passant!

Fly-Chess

This Java MIDlet works with the free chess servers provided worldwide to enable the individual mobile chess enthusiast to play chess anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Contestants could be on the internet or on mobile phones. It is even possible to play with two mobile phones against each other. Only very small data packages are transmitted through the GPRS 'always on' feature. So the 'carrier' costs are minimal.

You are now ready to challenge or to be challenged by someone willing to play chess. (for registered users also a password is required. To become a registered user, you have to look on the website of the chess server currently being used. 3) "Match Player"
With the "Match Player" command a list of available players is shown whom you may challenge for a game. It is also possible for you to be challenged by someone else. A "(C)" behind player's name indicates that this player is a computer. 4) Poll
Via the poll command it is possible to see if your challenge is accepted or if you are challenged by someone else. It is possible to stay logged on to the chess server and wait for particular players to challenge you. To see if you are challenged tap the poll command once or several times until a suitable opponent has been found. 5) Play Chess
You can select moves using the touch-screen (in the Accompli version). A black circle marks the from-field; the to -field is marked by a white circle. If you have selected your move, it can be sent to the opponent by tapping the "MOVE" command. After your move is sent, the program will wait for your opponent to move. And you will see the opponents move on the board. By default the application is configured to use the NotTheFly chess server gateway and the German Internet Chess Engine.
