Unfortunately, many programs
are only supported by Nokia phones. Therefore, I couldn’t test all programs
myself. For some programs I have no idea how to download them (e.g. when they
are available on non-English/German/French sites). If you know how to get them,
please let me know. All other information is welcome too. I also wonder if
there is a provider where the commercial programs can be downloaded to the PC.
It is a pain to download them via the phone, especially if something goes
wrong. Listed programs: currently 37….

ChessBuddy v.2.0 |
|
ChessBuddy
is the world's first application that enables you to play chess against your
phone. Because of the extremely efficient ChessBuddy
Artificial Intelligence engine (SeeBay™ engine), ChessBuddy has fast response times in most game play
situations, while keeping the game challenging. You can save up to 5 games,
so if you're ever short of time, you can finish your games later. ChessBuddy has 4 levels of strength: easy, medium, hard
and pro. But, it's not just the inside that's polished: have a look at the
screenshots to see the beauty of the game. No doubt it will take everything
possible out of your phone! From animated moves, to fast gameplay.
"The
challenge was to build a very small chess engine that was efficient enough to
run effectively on relatively slow mobile devices," he said. To meet
those constraints, ChessBuddy's artificial
intelligence brain was built from scratch and has fast response times in most
game-play situations. The game's other assets, said van Suchtelen,
are eye-grabbing color graphics and a user
interface simple enough that even technophobes can enjoy it. The moves are
animated, and switches on the side of the board indicate who has the next
move. Chess clocks keep the game moving.

Dr. Walker’s Chess v.2.6 |
|
Level 1
is the easiest level. The phone doesn't look at very many moves before it
decides which move to make, but it will not give its pieces away lightly so
be careful. On this level the phone moves very quickly. Increasing levels get
harder as the phone considers its options more carefully before deciding
which move to make, so it takes progressively longer for it to move.
Typically on a 7650 or 3650 the phone will respond in less than 1 second for
level 1, less than 5 seconds for level 2, less than 30 seconds for level 3
and less than 2 minutes for level 4. The 7210 is roughly 5 times slower than
this. There is, however, no maximum thinking time so in certain situations
the phone may take a little longer. Some computer chess games will have a
maximum thinking time but very often they will make a bad move just when the
game is becoming interesting and challenging. This is very annoying so Dr.
Walker's™ Chess does not do this. |

To

server will detect your phone type and model, and it will give you either an
appropriate version of the game, or it will send you a 404 error (which means
that there is no version available yet for yout

online chess game that allows you to play your friends and other players
globally, alternatively you can play against the phone with the games
built-in artificial intelligence. Unlike most other chess games,
Einstein challenger™ Chess' internal artificial intelligence does not
"hand -limit" its own performance when pressed for time by a hard
hitting opponent. GPRS connectivity means that you can play anyone in
the world, without incurring large line costs. Typically a game takes less
than 10kBytes to play, which is a lot less than sending a photograph over
GPRS. Level 1 is the easiest level. The phone doesn't look
at very many pieces before it decides what move to make, but it will not give
its pieces away lightly so be careful. On this level the phone moves very
quickly. Every chess rule is obeyed, including en passant! Typically on a 6600 the phone will respond in less
than 1 second for level 1, less then 5 seconds for level 2, less than 30
seconds for level 3 and less than 2 minutes for level 4. Chess strategy
